Brandon Lake made his Grand Ole Opry debut Thursday night blowing away the crowd and putting God front and centre.
"This is my first time in the circle. Thank you for having me. This is the most incredible honour ever. And y'all... we're going to have a little church" said Lake to the crowd who burst into cheers as he opened his show.
He started his show with his song "Honey in the Rock." He followed it up with "Daddy's DNA," which received a standing ovation, and ended with "Gratitude."
Later in the evening, he was welcomed back on stage to perform "Hard Fought Hallelujah" with Jelly Roll.
"This man came into my life, and he brought a message that has been in me my whole life, but it has not been awoken the way he awakened it, said Jelly Roll before the pair performed.
"God will always use his most unlikely messengers. His most unprepared messengers. He never called the equipped. He equipped the call. And it reminded me that even though my journey is a little haha here and there, that if guys like this see the God in me I'm trying to show, then maybe he's showing a little more than I thought he would."
This was the first time Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll performed "Hard Fought Hallelujah" together.
