Sylvester “Talbow” Girard Ma'iingan June 19, 1964 - October 2, 2021
Passed away in Winnipeg on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Sadly, he started his journey to the spirit world following his brother Bill last week. Sylvester was 57 years old. Sylvester was born June 19, 1964 in Kenora, Ontario. He was raised by his parents in Keewatin and lived in Winnipeg.
Sylvester will be remembered for his resilience, storytelling and star blanket making skills; his smile and his awesome Anishinaabeg humour. Sylvester was very proud of his children and will be missed by his family; namely his close bros Doug and Roy, his cousins; friends in Winnipeg and most of all by his children; Sylvester Jr.; Julianna, Anita, and Sylvannah.
Sylvester is predeceased by his parents; Mary Girard (nee Blackhawk) and Norman Anthony Wawia (Girard) ; aunt Louise Blackhawk and brothers Percy and Bill; sister Phyllis and sister-in-law Tammy, niece Samantha and his beloved daughter Meranda. Survived by his eight siblings: Norman (Celina); Josephine (George); Doug; Roy; Alvin (Tracy); Norma Jean (Matt); Vera (John) and Beverly.
Sylvester was also a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, too many to name but they will all miss and remember their uncle.
Friday, October 8- Viewing at 12 pm - 2 pm and Funeral Service at 2 pm at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 429 Second Street South, Kenora, Ontario. Sylvester will be laid to rest with his parents at Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora.
