Gloria Johnson

Gloria Johnson (Saunders) born February 25th, 1953 in Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully on January 16th, 2023 surrounded by family and friends in Kenora, Ontario. 

She was a loving mother and wife as well as a pillar of support to her community and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Gloria lived an adventurous life and was an avid traveller who made many homes throughout her life including Winnipeg, Toronto, Mississauga, Powassan, Cape Breton Island, and finally settling in Kenora.

He was one of a kind.  

Bruce grew up on Park Street with his parents Alexander and Mary (nee Kerr), his two brothers Dave (Jeannette) and Ron and his sisters Patricia Huntus (Hoit) and Judy Favreau (Bud).  His family shaped the strong values he stayed true to throughout his life.

Gordon Pernsky

With heavy hearts we are saddened to share the passing of Gordon Carl Pernsky on January 11 2023, at his home at the age of 68. He was born in Kenora, ON, on January 05, 1955. 

He joins and was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katherine Pernsky, his sister Bernice Pernsky and many aunts and uncles who were very special to him and him, to them.

Hearts are heavy to announce the passing of Grant Sutherland, who passed peacefully with family by his side. Grant was a compassionate, spontaneous and loyal soul who could warm your heart with his smile and generous nature. Grant lived in the silver linings of dementia, not allowing the disease to hold him back from his best life. He let nothing slow him down and continued to love having adventures.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and matriarch of the family Gail McRoberts. Lovingly referred to as Duct Tape Molly by her family for her knack of repairing whatever needed to get fixed at the fish camp with good chunk of duct tape and a giggle, she will always be lovingly remembered for playing such a huge part in our lives.

Andrew Edward Dean

On the evening of January 5, 2023 Andrew Edward Dean suddenly passed away doing what he loved – being outdoors in the bush, helping a neighbour and embracing winter.

Arthur Rayman Land

Arthur Rayman Land, age 32, of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Arthur was born in Kenora, Ontario. 

A viewing was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 7:00pm at Aboriginal Funeral Home, Winnipeg, Manitoba. 

A visitation & service will occur Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Frank Kowal officiating, cremation will follow.

Terry Ray Gliddy, a member of Wunnumin Lake First Nation, resident of Keewatin, Ontario passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario.

Terry was predeceased by his parents Tommy and Jeannie Victoria Gliddy (Nee Beardy), sister Christine Gliddy and his grandparents Jake Beardy and Joseph and Mary Gliddy.

Anton "Tony" Tirk

With his family by his side, Dad passed away peacefully, the morning of February 20, 2021.

Dad left Hungary during the Hungarian revolution in 1956. After working in Austria he came to Canada where he worked at many different jobs in different places, eventually ending up in Kenora. He also worked different jobs in Kenora before the Paper Mill hired him in 1965. He worked at the Kenora Mill for 30 years, before retiring in 1995.
