The Mayor of Strathmore is challenging the Mayor of Medicine Hat ahead of the playoff series between the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings and the Medicine Hat Cubs.
The series, which begins in Strathmore at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, is the closest the Kings have ever gotten to winning the championship.
Strathmore Mayor Pat Fule called out Mayor Linnsie Clark in a Facebook post.
"If the Cubs take this series, I will wear a Cubs jersey at a town council meeting, but if the Kings win, you have to sport a Kings jersey at one of your council meetings," said Fule. "So, Strathmore, let's get loud."
"Cheer on our Kings, and prove that even though I can't skate, I can still win a good wager."
Fule also took a dig at the Cubs by asking Clark not to send the Medicine Hat Tigers by mistake, referencing the city's WHL team.
The Kings received a first-round bye in the playoffs and are charging into the second round with a franchise record of 27 wins.
The town is still waiting on a response from Clark.
