On Friday, the Seine River School Division (SRSD) said schools in Ste. Anne were put into lockdown due to "recently reported information."
An email from Colin Campbell, superintendent of the SRSD said divisional staff worked closely with local police to assess the situation.
"We want to reassure you that all students and staff are safe," he said, and emphasized that the safety and well-being of the division's students and staff were their top priority.
He asked those who planned on going to the schools not to do so, in order to keep the area clear.
"We understand that this may be concerning, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this situation with the appropriate authorities," Campbell said.
