Charles 'Webb' Engstrom February 17, 1928 - October 28, 2021
It is with much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Webb, with his family by his side.
Webb was a lifelong resident of Kenora. He started his law career with the Ontario Provincial Police at the young age of 19. He later accepted a position with the Kenora Police Department, and in 1970, became Chief of Police, a position he held until his retirement. He was well respected by all of his officers.
It was during his policing career that he met his wife Laura, and they were happily married for 68 years. Together, they raised their 2 boys. His pride in his family was evident everyday of his life.
Webb was a lifetime member of the Kenora Golf and Country Club, and enjoyed senior curling well into his retirement. Both Webb and Laura enjoyed travelling to many sunny destinations.
Webb was predeceased by his son, Randy, and his brother Allan 'Diddy'. He is survived by his wife Laura, his son David (Carole), grandchildren Megan (Kris), Michael (Heather), Mark (Shelby), and Jeff (Megan). The special light of his life was his great grandson, Charlie. Also mourning his loss are his siblings Cowie, Ethel, Helen and Jim.
Special thanks is extended to the many caregivers at Pinecrest Home for the Aged, but especially to Nicole who welcomed his daily visits. Also many thanks to Dr. Thomas and Mike Limerick.
Webb will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. We will miss his feistiness.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
For current COVID rulings, those attending the service, proof of double vaccination and identification will be required for entry.
