It was a rough return to the ice for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.
The Strathmore-based Junior B hockey team began the second round of playoffs with a game against the Medicine Hat Cubs on Saturday, Feb. 22, losing 5-2.
By the end of first period the Cubs had one goal, while the Kings failed to score.
The trend carried into second period, with the Cubs scoring early. The Kings also managed to score, but the goal was taken away by referees after further examination.
The Cubs managed to score a third time early in the third period before potting a fourth and fifth just a few minutes later. Tensions were high, leading to a fight between the two teams around the half way point.
However, in the last half of the third period, the Kings managed two goals, one by Charlie Goll and another by Evan Dean.
In the end the Kings were not able to make up the deficit.
The best of five series between the Kings and the Cubs continues on Sunday afternoon in Medicine Hat at 3 p.m.
