Georgina May (JO) Peacock
After a long and happy life Georgina May (Jo) Peacock passed away peacefully on November 9, 2021. Jo was born on December 10, 1935 in Kenora, Ontario to Violet and George Page. She married Charles Norman (Bud) Peacock on January 9, 1954.
Jo was predeceased by her husband Bud, brothers Robert and Ernie, sister Margaret and son-in-law Cal Lajeunesse.
Jo is survived by her brother Ken Page and sister Shirley Hendrickson, daughters Wendy (Jim), Cathy (Brian) and sons Norm (Rolanda), Steve (Candis). Grandchildren and great grandchildren: Andrea and Chris, Clay and Heather (Brody & Brooke); Ben; Danielle and Peter (Kate and Eli); Josh and Paula (Brock and Eva); Lacey and Kevin (Halle and Tess); Adam and Kat; and Joey.
Before starting her family Jo worked up the lake at Machin’s family camp and Pitt’s store. When her kids were older she returned to work at Woolworth’s and then went to work at Shop Easy and Loblaw’s where she was well known as everyone’s favourite cashier.
Jo was an ‘outdoors’ gal spending her childhood at Trout Lake. After marrying Bud and having children, many years were spent boating and camping on the Winnipeg River. Eventually, Jo and Bud returned to Trout Lake and built their camp which later became their forever home.
Jo was a lifetime member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 12. She was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church. In later years she was blessed to spend plenty of time with her brothers and sisters, swimming, playing cards and puzzles, reminiscent of when they were children. Jo’s siblings meant the world to her and held a special place in her heart.
Jo came from a family of gardeners and florists. She worked in the greenhouses at a young age and continued to enjoy multiple flower gardens throughout her lifetime.
Parkview Apartments was her home for the past 15 years where she made many friends and was active on the Parkview Tenants Association. In the last few years Jo was able to relax more and enjoyed tea with special friends, Phyllis and Grace.
Special thanks to the amazing support workers at Parkview who allowed her to remain independent in her own home. Thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff on 3rd East, Lake of the Woods District Hospital for the comfort they provided to mom.
A Celebration of Jo’s life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 am. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. A private family interment will follow at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
