In Loving memory of Delphin “Del” Poff – September 2, 1939 – February 19, 2025.

Del passed away peacefully in the ICU of the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Del was a wonderful, kind man who loved to play his banjo, and always had a joke to tell. He will be missed by many relatives and friends, but most of all he will be missed by his immediate family. Family gatherings won’t be the same without a Papa Delio JOKE!

Del was born on a farm near Simmie, Saskatchewan. He married Annie Larson in 1957, they had two children, Justin and Bridget. In 1958, Del and Annie moved to Swift Current where Del took a job at Swift Current Cartage. In 1964, Del bought the trucks at R.J. moving and storage and started his career in the moving business. In 1980, Del ended his relationship with R.J. and started Custom Movers. Annie worked alongside Del in their moving business, packing all the kitchens for all the moves.

In 1983, Del and Annie semi-retired when they bought the Frosty Treat in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan working 7 months of the year – April to October. In the off season, they did some travelling. Del loved to map out a holiday and find “little out of the way” treasures to visit. Del and Annie worked like a well-oiled machine. Annie serving customers, and there were many, while Del did the filling of the ice cream mix and toppings. We always marveled at how they spent so much time together. I’m sure there were disagreements but we saw very few. “Great Team Work.”

In 2017, Del and Annie sold the Frosty Treat and really retired. This gave Del more time to play his banjo in his band “Conrad and the Prairie Pals,” again Annie by his side. Encouraging him to practice and making sure he was ready for engagements. Music was Del’s other love with Annie being his number one love. They would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on March 8, 2025.

Del is survived by his wife Annie; son Justin (Colleen); daughter Bridget Poff (Garth Morstad); grandchildren: Garwin (Rebecca) Poff, Amanda (Chad) Gergely, Lindsay (Jeff) Ranson, Samantha Poff (Chris ViCary), Crystal (Scott) McLellan, Cherie (Adam) Cursiter, R.J. (Kayla) Wiebe; great grandchildren: Kyus, Katie, Torren, Vance, Ella, Ripley, Jax, Carsen, Gunnar, and Harper; sister-in-laws: Lillie Poff and Betty (Norman) Selvig; brother-in-law Carl (Kim) Larson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Del was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Leona Poff; brothers: Reginald (Sheila), Clayton, Roger (Lorraine); parent-in-laws Arvid and Charlotte Larson.

We would like to thank Dr. Lund, the E.R and the I.C.U staff who took such good care of Del in his last days.

P.S. Dad also loved to fish. I like to think he is fishing now, no more struggle just blue skies and sunshine. Oh how you will be missed. Husband, Father, GrandFather, Great GrandFather.
