After 12 years, Compassion Canada is going to see some leadership changes after President and CEO, Allison Alley accepted a new leadership role in the international development sector.
Compassion Canada shared in an email, "After 12 years of faithful service, Allison Alley will be stepping into a new ministry leadership role in the international development sector. This marks the end of an extraordinary chapter for Compassion Canada and the beginning of an impactful new one for the world’s children."
While the organization said her drive and vision will be missed, "We celebrate this Kingdom-minded transition and the lasting impact she has made."
Compassion Canada has been committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name for over 60 years. While the commitment remains unwavering, work alongside supporters, churches and global partners will continue to impact vulnerable children worldwide.
Alley will be stepping into the role of President and CEO at World Vision Canada.
“Since the Board unanimously appointed Allison as our President and CEO in the fall of 2017, we’ve been continually inspired by her unwavering strength, depth of wisdom and insight, and the meaningful contributions she’s made over her 12-year tenure,” said Mark Fletcher, Chair of the Board. “Allison is a leader of exceptional character and competence and a catalyst for change. We are immensely proud of the transformation achieved under her leadership, as she built a healthy, high-performing organization, and are confident God will continue to work through her faithful efforts to bear fruit for the world’s children for decades to come.”
The decision for Alley to step away did not come easily. After much prayer and discernment and following God's will for the organization and her life.
“Stewarding this mission to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” shared Allison in a news release. “I have been profoundly shaped by the children we serve and by those I have served alongside. While stepping away from Compassion was not an easy decision, I have complete peace knowing that God is leading both myself and Compassion into this next season.”
Compassion Canada says the search for the new President and CEO will begin shortly.
