The northern lights lit up the sky in Strathmore early Wednesday morning.

Robyn Kloosterhof has been taking photos of the dazzling light shows for over two years.

"My husband gets up early for work about 4 a.m. Often that is when they're doing their best thing, and I have a really large picture window in my bedroom. I've kind of got over time a bit of a trained eye to see when I look outside through the window what the haze looks like," added Kloosterhof.

She told StrathmoreNow she uses the nighttime mode on her phone to make the pinks and the greens bloom onto the screen.

"I went out on my back deck which does face George Freeman Trail, so it's a really wide-open field there with nothing blocking the view."

According to Kloosterhof, she loves sharing her photos on social media.

"It makes a little connection in the community, as well, which I love. I love seeing everybody else's photos as well."

Ellie Jubenville also captured some incredible pictures of the northern lights.

She said the first time she saw the aurora borealis was around four years ago.

"The magic and the beauty of Lady Aurora dancing in the sky always takes my breath away. The feeling is indescribable because each time it’s different, I love the colour green of the northern lights the best."

Jubenville mentioned that her favourite part about them is their unique look.

"It's the natural light display that shimmers in the sky with amazing shapes and colours."
