Ryan Straschnitzki will be front and centre for an upcoming mental health fair in Chestermere.

Straschnitzki is a survivor of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash that ended the lives of 16 players in 2018 after a transport truck ran a stop sign near Armley, Saskatchewan. He was also left paralyzed from the chest down.

The event will be held at the Chestermere Recreation Centre on Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Since the crash, Straschnitzki has embarked on speaking tours and will be the special guest this time around in Chestermere.

He also started the Straz Strong Foundation which mentioned that his speaking events focus on overcoming adversity, his mental and physical toughness, inspiring change through adaptive sports, and the power of kindness and positivity.

"I will speak on motivation/information and inspiration about my life story, hockey, and rehabilitation endeavors," wrote Straschnitzki on his website.

"I will also talk about the life of someone living with a disability. I will explain the harsh world that those with disabilities have to face every day (non-accessibility, not enough funding for therapy of any kind, medical supplies, etc.) and how clients/whomever can help make a difference through the Straz Strong Foundation."

The event will be held at the MPP Hall.
