It's a new initiative that the Town of Drumheller is hoping will garner a lot of steam.
"This new initiative will play a key role in shaping the future of sports development in the community. Based on the recommendations outlined in the 2023 Parks & Recreation Master Plan, the committee’s primary goal is to provide advisory support to the Town of Drumheller on all matters related to sports development," mentioned the town in a news release about the new Drumheller Valley Sports Committee.
According to the town, the group is looking for people who are passionate about sports in Drumheller and are wanting to grow the community.
Volunteers are needed as well.
“As a member of the Drumheller Valley Sports Committee, you will help shape the future of sports in Drumheller. Whether you’re passionate about promoting youth sports, improving facilities, or enhancing community engagement, your voice and expertise will be valued," said Rick Ladouceur, Manager of Recreation Arts and Culture.
The deadline for residents to apply is March 21 and council will make the appointments during a meeting in April.
