Huculak, Don, 71, of Swift Current, passed away peacefully after a brief illness March 1, 2025. Don is survived by his sons Scean Clandening (Sheena Francis), Jeremy Huculak, and his daughter Laina Wightman (Mike); grandchildren Carter Clandening (Mackenzie Roberts), Allison Wightman and Madelyn Wightman; brother Murray Huculak (Kathy); brothers-in-law Russel Duncombe (Margaret), Reg Duncombe (Lynda), Wayne Duncombe, and Bryan Duncombe (Marci); and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Don is predeceased by his parents Anne and Paul Huculak; his sister Pat Huculak; his sister-in-law Terry Duncombe; and Linda, his wife and soulmate of 41 years. Comfort is brought to the family knowing Don and Linda are together again.
Don was born in Regina in 1953 and grew up in the smaller towns of Bladworth and Radville. He eventually found his way back to Regina where he began his impressive 38-year career with SGI, which led him to Tisdale and eventually Swift Current. Don made many lifelong friendships, and was always up for a game of crib, a heartfelt conversation, a good laugh, and a nice scotch. He was a gentle and kind parent, guiding his children through all life’s stages with generosity, humour, and affection. We always knew how much Dad loved us. Don took such joy in his grandchildren, and they will miss being spoiled with treats, his silly jokes, and his bear hugs. A devoted husband, Don and Linda shared a true partnership that endured great joys and tough challenges. They built a warm and inviting home together, which included Pookie, their cat of 21 years. They enjoyed many vacations to sunny destinations, cheered on the Riders, and shared a love of busy family gatherings.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held in the summer. The family is grateful for the kindness and care of the medical staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital.
