Cody Zebedee is the new fire chief in Chestermere.
"With over 24 years of extensive experience in fire service leadership, safety codes, and fire investigation, Chief Zebedee brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Chestermere Fire Department," wrote the city in a news release.
Zebedee started his career in High River as a firefighter in 1997.
"He steadily advanced through the ranks, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication. He served as a Fire Captain from 2005 to 2018, both in High River and at the Heritage Pointe Fire Station, before becoming a Fire Inspector in 2018," added the city.
"In October 2019, he was promoted to Fire Chief of High River, where he also served as the Director of Emergency Management and Protective Services, overseeing a composite fire department, Community Peace Officer program, and emergency management for the community."
Chestermere Chief Administrative Officer Kent Edney said the city is excited to welcome Zebedee as its new fire chief.
“His proven track record of leadership, dedication to community safety, and extensive experience in all facets of fire service make him the ideal candidate to lead our fire department into the future.”
Zebedee also has specialized training in Fire Service Leadership from Dalhousie University and NFPA 1521 certification from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
“I am honored and excited to join the City of Chestermere and lead its dedicated fire department,” mentioned Zebedee. “I look forward to working closely with the community and the exceptional team of firefighters to ensure the safety and well-being of Chestermere residents.”
City staff told StrathmoreNow that they are looking forward to his leadership.
