The Town of Kindersley is inviting residents to put their creativity to the test by submitting name ideas for the 7th Street West Park.
The community-driven contest, which runs for two weeks, gives Kindersley residents of all ages a chance to participate by suggesting a park name and, if they wish, a sign design. Anna Polsfut, communications coordinator for the Town of Kindersley, said the initiative is about engaging the community in a meaningful way.
“We were looking for a name that’s a little more creative than just 7th Street West Park, and we saw this as a great opportunity to involve the public,” said Polsfut.
To ensure the process remains fair and inclusive, the town has set a few contest rules. The park cannot be named after a person, place, or thing, encouraging participants to think outside the box. Additionally, entries are only open to Kindersley residents, and submissions must be made online through the official contest link.
While it has not been decided whether a winner will be chosen outright or if a shortlist will be put to a public vote, Polsfut said all ideas are welcome. “If you have lots of ideas, submit them. We are all ears for that,” she said.
The contest closes on March 17, giving residents until St. Patrick’s Day to contribute their suggestions.
As for sign designs, there are no strict size or format requirements—entries can be professionally created or hand-drawn. However, Polsfut noted that offensive or inappropriate content will not be considered.
