The Kyle Elks are riding high after winning four games in five days to advance in both their Sask Valley Hockey League playoffs and Saskatchewan Senior A Provincials.
"It was exciting," saidĀ Elks captain Colby Schneider. "It was a hard weekend. We knew it'd be tough playing four games in five nights, but we played really well as a team. Once we knew we got to Sunday everybody had a good rest, and we were ready to go."
The Elks were able to turn the provincial series against Leroy around after a 7-2 loss in Game 1 of the best-of-three.
"We played a lot better in Game 2 and it gave us lots of confidence for Game 3," Schneider said. "We knew we could be a lot better and as long as we played as a group, we'd be fine.
The Elks also beat Dinsmore in the second round of the SVHL playoffs to advance to the league final.
Kyle now faces a unique circumstance where the SVHL final and their provincial semifinal series are both scheduled against the Kenaston Blizzards.
"We know Kenaston quite well," Schneider said. "They're really good. We just try to not get in too much penalty trouble with them. Game-by-game just try and set the tone early and see how it goes and see who lasts longer I guess."
There is no official update yet on when the next rounds of league and provincial playoff action will start.
