David Leonard recently traded his studio for a secluded cabin to record his latest album.

Leonard and a few of his close musical friends packed up what they needed and headed out to an old cabin in a secluded area in Franklin, Tennessee.

"We went out there for a whole week and fell in love with creating in isolation, away from the world," said Leonard. "There was something about being isolated from the world and just getting lost in the music. I recommend it to everyone who's trying to make a record."

The new 12-track album Just Jesus, was inspired by loss that David experienced over a short period.

"A lot of the songs that I usually write are just God's doing in the community, my family and my friends," said Leonard. " A lot of these spun out of what was happening in my family. We ended up losing three grandparents quickly and my daughter had some health complications."

He said that the album was spun out of the realization that in the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, the Lord has promised to be with us through it all.

"Naturally out of moments like that, artists tend to create their best stuff," Leonard explained. " And so I ended up writing songs and now we're here with this thing."

David hopes that people can insert themselves into this new record.

"You know, you can create all day long. You can do all this kind of stuff, but if it doesn't meet people, it was for ourselves."
