It was a dream come true for former Humboldt Bronco Lane Matechuk on Tuesday night.
Prior to the start of the Colorado Avalanche and Pittsburgh Penguins game in Denver, Matechuk dropped the puck for the ceremonial faceoff.
On his way to centre ice, Matechuk received a warm reception from the crowd at the Ball Arena as they played a video package on the big screen.
Taking the faceoff were two of Matechuk’s favourite players, Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
