Diana Baird, former organizer of the Terry Fox Run in Strathmore, is looking for someone to take her place.
On Wednesday, Mar. 5, Baird announced that she would be stepping away as run organizer and is looking for a person or group to run the event.
"I got a call from the Town of Strathmore. They did the run during COVID, and I assume they just went down every volunteer organization they could find until someone said yes," laughed Baird as she spoke about first joining the run.
According to Baird, fresh ideas are needed to improve the live event. Responsibilities for the new organizer would be to get permits for the run by working alongside the town.
"Ninety per cent of the money we get comes from online donations," added Baird. "The foundation also supplies shirts that you can sell."
The 2025 Terry Fox Run campaign begins in April, around the time that Fox began the original marathon 45 years ago.
