The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is giving residents tips as their T4s come in.
Navneet Kaur, a spokesperson with the CRA, said that scams are more common than usual.
"Because this is the time of the year when scammers are aware that people are expecting refunds, benefits, or credits. Nonetheless, we have to be vigilant throughout the year."
Kaur also gave tips on taxes based on the most frequent reassessments that they do at the CRA.
"Make sure you do not miss out on reporting your income. Double-check your slips before you hit submit. Second, we keep a good record of all the deductions you're claiming on your returns. In case the information is required, you're easily able to provide it, so stay organized."
Other tips for residents include not clicking on unknown links, not recycling passwords, and not being afraid to say no to scammers.
"Nobody will penalize you for hanging up," added Kaur.
The deadline to submit your taxes is April 30.
