Burton (Burt) Allister Clifton passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Burton (Burt) was born on the family farm (NW2-15-9-W3) near Neidpath, Saskatchewan on November 11, 1937 the fifth of seven children of pioneer parents.
He will be missed by his wife of more than 39 years, Donna Bulbeck; sister Shirley Van Kannel; brother Wayne (Anita); sisters-in-law: Glennis Clifton, and Eileen Clifton; plus numerous nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Archie and Cassie; sister Audrey (Don) Coghlan; brothers: Iver, Sherman, and Douglas (Victoria) Clifton; and brothers-in-law: Don Coghlan, and Charles Van Kannel.
He attended Ensz public school, and Luxor in Neidpath, finishing high school in Swift Current, while learning all the skills of farming, and a family-operated earthwork construction business. He could operate and repair any type of vehicle, or heavy equipment, and applied those skills to a varied career that ranged from the family business to equipment operation, and a supervisor in the construction, mining, and oilfield industries.
His many skills, innate problem solving abilities, entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to meet any challenge head-on, made him a valuable team member wherever he went. His calm, outgoing personality, generosity, and ready sense of humour brought him many good friends.
But farming was his first love. Raising poultry, and livestock in a successful mixed farming operation brought him immense satisfaction. Above all, his greatest delight was following the lives of his nieces and nephews, and their families. He did his best to stay in touch.
A Meet and Greet will take place at the Hodgeville Community Centre on August 9, 2025 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. It was Burt’s wishes that his ashes be interred at the family farm, so he will forever remain a part of the land that he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance 2640 Airport Road Regina, Saskatchewan, S4W 1A3.
