Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a wind warning for Strathmore and the surrounding area.

According to the group, strong winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected on the afternoon of Sunday, Mar. 9. The wind is expected to calm down by Sunday evening.

"Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage," wrote ECCC on its website.

The warning also applies to Wheatland County, including in Carseland and Lyalta.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of winds causing damage.
