One lucky man is now the winner of $2 million.
Mahesh Gowda won the money through the Western 649 draw and said will share it with his wife when she returns from India.
“She was so excited!” he explained. “I told her I couldn’t believe it at first, I just had to keep checking the ticket to see if it was real."
“I always read about other winners in the paper and thought to myself one day it could be me,” wrote a news release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “And look, I won."
Gowda mentioned that he's planning to retire this year and is looking forward to booking a summer trip.
He bought the winning ticket from Jerrys Convenience Store at 125- 216 Saddletowne Circle NE in Calgary.
Gowda matched all six numbers in the December 11 Western 649 draw: 6, 14, 28, 39, 41, and 47.
