During Kindersley Court on March 11, the fire chief of Luseland was convicted of firearm-related offences after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded gun in his vehicle.
Matt Rumohr was found guilty of two counts of careless use of a firearm and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm. The charges stem from an incident in which he was pulled over for failing to stop at a newly installed stop sign, which had previously been a yield sign.
Police said Rumohr had been drinking at a party before driving home. During the traffic stop, officers found a loaded firearm in the vehicle, leading to the charges.
Rumohr was sentenced to six months of probation and 25 hours of community service. He was also fined a total of $910 and received a two-year firearm ban.
