Rob Carnie - Big news from the City of Moose Jaw this week, the naming rights for what was at the Moose Jaw Events Centre, now Temple Gardens Center. A nice influx of cash from Peepeekisis First Nation.
Maryse Carmichael - That's right, we’re very, very pleased with this agreement that we have. It's the economic arm of the Peepeekisis Cree Nation: Peepeekisis Development Ltd.
We have been negotiating with them for a few months, as a lot of our residents know. The Peepeekisis Cree Nation owns the Temple Gardens Hotel and Mineral Spa, and now really cementing their relationship with the city and their footprint here, sponsoring the naming rights for our wonderful facility downtown.
Rob - Six hundred thousand dollars over five years?
Maryse - That's correct, so that is our this agreement for the naming rights, and then that way they will have Temple Gardens Center, that's the new name for our facility as well as good recognition for their investment in our in our facility.
Rob - Some chatter on social media I see from locals, people wondering where does that money get spent? You tell us.
Maryse - It goes to the building to reduce the subsidy of course from the from the city, we can use it for different events or any upgrades for the facility.
Rob - Wonderful.
On the heels of that official naming of the Moose Jaw Events Centre to Temple Gardens Centre, a big announcement from the Temple Gardens Centre.
Shania Twain is coming to see us in Moose Jaw this summer, that's a that's a strong announcement right out of the blocks.
Maryse - It's huge, and it's been really hard to keep the news. I've known for a few weeks already. We really wanted, Moose Jaw wanted to host Shania Twain in our city.
She is coming to the Temple Gardens Center July seventh, I think it's going to be quite a party, right after Sidewalk Days. So we have Sidewalk Days in the city and then turn that into maybe Shania Days or something, and we'll have Shania Twain in our city for one concert.
Rob - Fabulous.
