A Fog Advisory was in effect for Rocky View County, including Airdrie and Crossfield for most of Thursday morning, though it has since been lifted.

Snow is forecast to start around noon, followed by blowing snow as winds gust up to 60 km/h, further reducing visibility. While the temperature may reach +1°C, the wind chill will make it feel closer to -5°C.

The wintry weather won’t let up as evening approaches. Drivers can expect another 2 cm of snow accumulation, with temperatures dipping to -12°C and wind chills plummeting to -16°C overnight. Winds will gradually ease by late evening, but road conditions will remain treacherous.

Conditions along the QEII have worsened. Drivers traveling toward Calgary or north of Airdrie now encounter shoulder ice and snow, freezing rain, fog, icy sections, and even black ice in some areas. Ice fog and fog patches further reduce visibility, while slippery roads and icy wheel paths add to the risks.

Commuters are strongly advised to slow down, maintain extra distance between vehicles, and keep their headlights on for maximum visibility.
