On Friday morning, the tow ban on Highway 2 was lifted after Alberta RCMP had issued it the day before, warning of dangerous conditions from Edmonton city limits to Highway 611.

On Thursday, Airdrie commuters traveling north faced treacherous roads, with icy conditions, blowing snow, and freezing rain making travel along the QEII hazardous. Thick fog, black ice, and icy wheel paths had already created challenges, while shoulder ice and freezing rain made the route especially risky.
