The first nomination is in for Rocky View County's (RVC) next council members.
Beverly Copithorne has officially submitted her papers to run for Division Two Councillor, representing the area south of Cochrane.
In RVC, council members are elected by division, with voters casting ballots in their respective areas. The county consists of seven divisions.
County residents interested in running have until Sept. 22 at noon to submit their nomination papers.
The municipal election will go ahead on Oct. 20.

Criminal record checks are now required for all candidates in the 2025 elections of Cochrane and Rocky View County council.
In Cochrane, there are two candidates officially registered.
Mayor Jeff Genung is seeking his third term and Dan Cunin is making a fourth run for a spot on council.
