Rocky View County is celebrating Global Recycling Day.
The day was established in 2018 to recognize and celebrate the importance of recycling in preserving resources and land around the world.
"Every bottle, can, or piece of paper recycled helps preserve the farmland, open spaces, and wildlife we love and cherish," wrote the county.
"Whether you use curbside recycling or drop off recyclable materials at your local transfer site, you're keeping valuable resources out of the landfill and giving them new life."
The county said that recycling isn't just about waste; it's about protecting what makes communities special.
According to the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation, over 99 million kilograms of recyclable materials were kept out of landfills across the province in 2024 alone.
