The current MP for the Foothills riding, Conservative incumbent John Barlow, is once again looking to secure the Foothills riding seat in parliament.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a date for the spring election of Monday, April 28.
Barlow's team was well-prepared with lawn signs and whatnot, ready to go and were already handing them out.
Barlow represents the CPC, the Conservative Party of Canada, and has been an MP since a by-election in 2014.
He's also the Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Agri-Food, and Food Security.
"We need everybody out to vote. I think this is one of the most important elections in our history. This is about making a decision on what's best for Canada. Do we want a unified, strong country that will stand on its own two feet under a proud flag, or do we want the status quo, which is debilitating, devastating policies with high taxes and a government that's spending beyond its means, high debt and putting us in a precarious position for years to come."
All five major federal political parties have candidates running, and Barlow said what separates the CPC (Conservative Party of Canada) from the Liberals and others is their conservative outlook on spending your tax dollars and strong leadership.
"We have an incredibly strong leader in Pierre Poilievre, a great team and I think the policies we are putting out are resonating with Canadians. You know, just yesterday (Monday), we announced a tax cut on the lower brackets of the tax code, which will save Canadians $1,800. These are the savings Canadians need right now. Today (Tuesday), we announced a cut on the GST on new homes under a million dollars, which will save some Canadians between $50 and $80,000 on their mortgage payments, which again, this is about making life more affordable."
"So, our focus is on axing the Carbon Tax on everything for everyone. The Liberals are going to have a shadow carbon tax and Mark Carney admitted the other day that Canada will have a carbon tax, and that's just not what Canadians need right now. Our focus is on affordability, being able to put groceries on the table, cracking down on crime and the fentanyl crisis. And I think that's what Canadians are talking about and that's the priorities they want to see."
The federal election takes place on Monday, April 28.
