Blake Shelton has released a heartfelt new ballad delivering a powerful message of forgiveness and faith.

The song, "Let Him In Anyway," shares the story of a man hoping for divine forgiveness for a lost friend who was just shy of redemption.

"This song is one of the most powerful songs I've ever had the chance to record," said Shelton in a release. "I've never heard a song like this before. When I first listened to it, I knew it was something special. It's an honour to bring it to life."

The chorus reads: "Hey, God /I know you know what I'm about to pray, God / I just had to suck it up and say goodbye to my best friend / And I don't ever wanna never see him again / And I know the only way to get in is through you / And he wasn't quite the Christian he was supposed to be / And Lord, it ain't my place / But could you let him in anyway?"

Shelton is not shy about sharing his faith with others. He credits his wife, Gwen Stefani, for bringing him back to God.

The start of their relationship was unlikely, as the two were both dealing with difficult divorces at the time of meeting while on The Voice - but Stefani brought a connection to Christ that she and Shelton now share.

"I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life," said Shelton in 2019.

Shelton's new album, For Recreational Use Only, is set to be released on May 9.
