The Chestermere Boxing Club has seen rapid growth in just a few years.
Construction on the facility began before the COVID-19 pandemic.
"When we first opened our doors, we had about five kids in the program. We're now sitting at about 250 kids in the program," said Alex Halat, director of the club.
Athletes travel to Chestermere from all across the counties of Rocky View and Wheatland including areas like Rockyford, Lyalta, Strathmore, and Langdon.
The club now has just under 30 athletes in its fighter class.

Halat added that the facility was built to keep kids active.
"Not every parent has the ability to pay for hockey, basketball, and football. Boxing is an alternative, and it's a lot more affordable than other sports."
Halat grew up in northeast Calgary and said without sport he would've made some poor decisions in his life.
"It was sport that kept us on the straight and narrow and helped us get through our high school years on through university and then on through our careers."
