The Winnipeg Jets have clinched a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs after defeating the Washington Capitals 3-2 Tuesday evening. 

Nikolaj Ehlers scored the game-winning goal. Mason Appleton and Josh Morrissey also scored for the Jets, who played in front of a sold-out crowd at Canada Life Centre. 

Morrissey scored the first goal of the game 6:50 into the first period, bringing the game to a score of 1-0.

Mason Appleton scored seconds before the end of the second period, giving the Jets a 2-1 lead.  

The Capitals' Alex Ovechkin had the only goal in the third period, leading to a 2-2 tie and overtime. 

Ehlers scored 1:28 into overtime to clinch a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs. 

Connor Hellebuyck had 27 saves, saving six shots in the first period, 12 in the second period and 11 in the third.
