The Winnipeg Jets have clinched a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs after defeating the Washington Capitals 3-2 Tuesday evening.
Nikolaj Ehlers scored the game-winning goal. Mason Appleton and Josh Morrissey also scored for the Jets, who played in front of a sold-out crowd at Canada Life Centre.
Morrissey scored the first goal of the game 6:50 into the first period, bringing the game to a score of 1-0.

Mason Appleton scored seconds before the end of the second period, giving the Jets a 2-1 lead.

The Capitals' Alex Ovechkin had the only goal in the third period, leading to a 2-2 tie and overtime.
Ehlers scored 1:28 into overtime to clinch a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Connor Hellebuyck had 27 saves, saving six shots in the first period, 12 in the second period and 11 in the third.
The Jets are now just one point behind the Capitals for first in the league, and are eight points ahead of the Dallas Stars for first in the Central Division.

This is the Jets' seventh postseason appearance since 2017-2018.
