It's MLB opening day! There are 162 reasons to celebrate today, as Major League Baseball begins its six month long regular season running into playoff baseball in October.
The Toronto Blue Jays are back on the Classic Hits Radio airwaves this year. The Jays begin the 2025 season this afternoon at home against Baltimore, starting with the pre-game show leading into first pitch just after 1:00 PM.
The season actually started a week ago when my Chicago Cubs lost two games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the "Tokyo Series". The Dodgers are the defending champions and looking better than ever, the other 29 teams hoping it's their year.
A few notable changes this season included the Athletics officially being moved out of Oakland, now playing in a minor league stadium until they move to Las Vegas, calling themselves "The Athletics" for the time being.
The Tampa Bay Rays are calling Steinbrenner Field (Yankees spring training stadium) in Tampa their home this year after Tropicana Field's roof was ravaged by Hurricane Milton. It won't be the first time an AL East team has done this in recent memory, the Jays had to play in their spring training ballpark a few years back while renovations were completed at Rogers Centre.
