Incumbent Member of Parliament Blake Richards with the Conservative Party of Canada has officially filed his nomination papers for re-election for the Airdrie-Cochrane riding.

Richards has represented Airdrie and Cochrane since he was first elected in 2008.

"It's always humbling to put your name on the ballot," explained Richards. "'I've worked hard for the people of our area, and it's always been an honour to represent our communities and our people within them."

He went on to share how excited he is to campaign over the next month leading up to the election.

"There's a lot of work involved in elections, but I always love getting out and having that chance to go and meet people at their doors and hear from them what their priorities are."

Most recently, Richards has served as Conservative shadow minister for Veterans Affairs.

Other nominees that DiscoverAirdrie have been made aware of include:

  • New Democratic Party of Canada - Sarah Zagoda
  • Liberal Party of Canada - Sean Secord

DiscoverAirdrie is reaching out to each nominee to discuss their beliefs and to see what they will do for Airdrie. The nomination process officially closes on April 7.

The federal election will take place on April 28th.
