The Okotoks Bisons' streak as Heritage Junior Hockey League champions has come to an end.
A 2-1 Sylvan Lake win at the Murray Arena on Thursday saw the Wranglers reclaim the title for the first time in 15 years.
Game 4, despite being the lowest scoring of the final series, saw the most shots on goal, with the Wranglers firing 29 attempts at Bisons netminder Connor White, and the Herd pelting visiting goalie Kaden Toussaint with 46 shots.
The Bisons drew first blood, with Owen McFarlane landing the Bisons' lone goal of the game three and a half minutes into the first period, assisted by Brandon Jarman.
Both of the Wranglers' goals came in the second period, with Aydden Shaw netting an equalizer at the 7:30 mark and Owen Callow tipping the scale six minutes later.
It's the end of the Bisons' three-year reign as HJHL champions, having taken the league banner in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The Bisons were also provincial champions in 2024, a title that Sylvan Lake will now have a shot at.
Since their last league title in 2010, the Wranglers have been runners-up five times, two of those in the last two years.
