James "Jimmie" Green

JUNE 29, 1940 – NOVEMBER 17, 2021

James (Jimmie) Green June 29, 1940 - November 17, 2021

Sadly, after a lengthy battle with advanced Diabetes, and a short bout of pneumonia Jimmie was called home by his Savior on November 17, 2021 at approximately 12:15 p.m. with his loving family by his side.

Jimmie was predeceased by his Father Charles Green Sr, and his mother Anna Woodhouse (nee Green), his brothers Bobby Green, Fred Green, Charlie Green, John Green, and Herman Green, his sisters Pearl Green, Rhea Green, Diane Green and Ann Green. His nephew Jeff Green, nephew Matthew Ferris, niece Carolyn Comegan, niece Debbie Green, his sons Melvin Skead and Clifton Clarke.

Jimmie is survived by his only remaining sister Verna Redsky (Ron), brother Clarence (Terry) Greene, stepsister Linda Anderson, stepbrother Clarence Woodhouse, stepbrother Edward Woodhouse, his special close cousin Elmer Savoyard, and his loving wife of 43 years, Laura Green, his (step)son, Ashley Green. Biological son Ian Skead, biological daughter, Vera Clarke, grandsons Sohkan Bear and Chaseson Clarke and granddaugther Adriana Clarke. As well as many nieces, nephews and others grands too numerous to mention.

Jimmie was a very talented man who shared his art with the world...literally. Some of his art went into the United States, and some to Germany, as well as Japan. Many locals have a carving or two that Jimmie had made.

He also owned a bulldozer that he worked with and an employee that worked for him at times. Out of his hard earnings he one day handed $500.00 over to his wife, Laura and told her "Here, start a store", out of that a business grew with a few employees earning work under them. Green's Convenient Store lasted for a good 8 years before both decided to sell and venture into other things.

Jimmie and Laura got born-again in 1984 and married shortly after. Ever since then Jesus has been a huge part of Jimmie's spirituality over the years. And, he had the name of Jesus on his lips right to the end. Like King David, Jim offered up multiple praises to the Lord everyday. It was his lifestyle.

Toward the sunset years of his life, Jimmie had to go to Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home, (now the Wiigwas Home for the elderly) because he needed adequate care that we couldn't give him at home. But his wife Laura, and Son Ashley visited almost everyday steady for the last few years he was in and out of nursing care.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Birchwood Terrace (Wiigwas) nursing staff, Dr. Sawatsky, and the Lake of the Woods District Hospital nursing staff and doctors who tended to Jim in his last days.

Wake will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the United Pentecostal Church 409 6th Street South in the Lakeside Area. Funeral will follow the next day November 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Wittmeier officiating. Pallbearers will be determined as things progress. Interment will follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
