Fire crews from across Wheatland County worked together to put out a rural grass and bale fire near Nightingale.

"The Rockyford Fire Department would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the Dalum, Rosebud, Standard and Wheatland West fire departments for their assistance on Monday and Tuesday of this week," said the Village of Rockyford.

"As well, to the numerous farmers that supplied much needed equipment and labour."

According to the village, firefighters brought in 16 vehicles to extinguish the blaze.

"This scene required many hours of volunteer time, utilized approximately 150,000 gallons of water needed to extinguish the fire, and with just over 83,000 gallons being transported from Rockyford by fire department tenders," added the village.

No injuries were reported.
