A digital transformation company headquartered in Steinbach is set to launch its first commercial product at Hannover Messe 2025 in Germany. The company, mode40, will introduce MAST – the Manufacturing Source of Truth – a data-driven platform designed to enhance efficiency and decision-making in industrial operations.

The official unveiling takes place at noon today. The event holds additional significance as Canada is this year’s partner country at Hannover Messe, giving mode40 a high-profile platform as part of Team Canada’s delegation.

International exposure for a Manitoba-based company

mode40 was founded in 2020 by Cameron Bergen and Matt Kehler, with a mission to help manufacturers turn data into profit. Initially focused on consulting and custom software development, the company has now expanded into product development with the launch of MAST.

The opportunity to showcase its work on a global stage is a major milestone for mode40.

“One thing we're very proud of is to be able to represent the work that is done in southeastern Manitoba and put a little bit of a spotlight on what we do here. There's a ton of innovation in southeastern Manitoba, always has been,” says Bergen.

Hannover Messe, recognized as the world’s largest manufacturing trade fair, attracts tens of thousands of industry professionals and over 3,000 exhibitors annually. mode40’s participation is supported by the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) and Durham College’s AI Hub.

As part of the launch, MAST will be reviewed by delegations from over 24 countries. Bergen encourages those interested to explore the product online. “We’d love for people to check out our website and product videos. This is just the beginning, and we’re eager to see how manufacturers around the world will benefit from MAST.”

Addressing manufacturers’ needs

Bergen says MAST was developed in response to direct industry feedback. “We built MAST because manufacturers told us what they needed—clarity, speed, and control over their operations to drive profit.”

MAST serves as a centralized hub for manufacturing data, connecting machines, sensors, and quality systems. It features AI-powered analytics, real-time monitoring, and automated alerts to help manufacturers optimize their processes.

“You don't have to sit there and watch the information in real time,” says Tracy Gromniski, Chief Product Officer at mode40. “The system will engage with you and notify you of the things that are happening on the plant floor. In the day and age, where there's all of this economic uncertainty, specifically around manufacturing in Canada and our ability to trade with the US, our product is even more meaningful in this space because we also have a continuous improvement module where it helps you optimize and reduce waste in real time by providing the tools that engineers have been using for years as part of lean manufacturing practices, we've systemized those and put AI agents in there to help support expediting those activities to get those dollar gains back as fast as you can.”

The platform's open architecture enables scalability, whether for a single production line or an enterprise-wide deployment.

“Most systems on the market today require significant effort to collect and analyze manufacturing data. With MAST, we’ve built AI agents that continuously monitor production, identify inefficiencies, and surface insights in real time,” says Gromniski.
