Whether you are expecting, a first-time mom or already have children, First Look Ultrasound is introducing a new program called "Moms in Motion."
Juanita Cisotto, Manager at First Look, describes it as a dynamic initiative designed to empower mothers through fitness, community, and support. She also notes that this is part of an effort to expand their business.
“We're not just going to do ultrasounds. We are wanting to open our doors and build a community revolving around moms.”
Motherhood can often feel overwhelming, but being surrounded by a supportive community can make all the difference. The goal of this program is to create a space where moms can connect and share their journey.
“We're super excited to open our doors to moms and their whole journey. Right from seeing us at 8 weeks and listening to that little heartbeat, all the way to if you're having a hard time with your pregnancy and stuff, just having that whole support in that community group.”
Cisotto says that Moms in Motion is about more than just physical activity. It's about breaking the isolation that many mothers experience.
“Once you’re home with your kids, you may not have that interaction with other people. Moms just hold such a special place in my heart and I'm a mom of five, so it's like I understand the whole feeling isolated and alone and you're just going through life and it kind of blurs and blends all in one, so it just breaks up your day, get your kids out meeting and socializing and it's wonderful.”
Beyond Moms in Motion, First Look has plans to introduce additional programs, including a grief support group.
“It's just not talked about a lot so we're here to be like, OK, here's our doors. Here's our hugs. And let's just get you in here and just know that you're not alone. And to build a community around that as well.”
The response from the community has already been overwhelmingly positive.
“Moms are just excited to just get their bodies moving and just not doing it alone. That's the other thing because yeah, sure, you can go by yourself and walk around, but then it's just lonely.”
Participating in programs like this can be beneficial for both physical and mental well-being while also gaining a sense of community.
“We're here to welcome all moms of all stages. And you can even just be just pregnant, or you can have little kids, you can have older kids that are in school, it doesn't matter,” Cisotto shares.
She encourages any moms who are interested to take that first step and join in.
“I know the first step is like the hardest part. It's kind of scary, you don't know anybody. But I also have my number at the bottom of all of the stuff. So if you're lost or not sure where we are or you come late, just shoot me a text and we'll make sure to gather you in.”
The first Moms in Motion session takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2, starting at 11 AM at Abe’s Hill by Giesbrecht Street in Steinbach.
“We aim for the nicer days of the week. We're going to try and do it right now, once a week, for an hour long and we'll just try and meet up everybody at the designated time.”
Registration is not required, but Cisotto welcomes anyone with questions to reach out.
