The Town of Strathmore has a new historical page on its website.
The section covers the history of Strathmore Town Council, including a full list of all councillors and mayors since becoming a town in 1911.
Several fun facts are included on the page, like in 1949 when all seven members of council resigned.
"Elections were held every two years, while councillors served staggered two-year terms starting in 1912," wrote the town on its website.
The page also includes the story of Marge Hallett, who became Strathmore's first woman councillor in 1963.
There is a list of the tenures of each of Strathmore's mayors, with the top three longest mayors being:
- Keith Schneider, who served from 1990 to 2007.
- Edward W.R. Lambert, who served from 1911 to 1921.
- Walter Snook, who served from 1974 to 1983.
Current Mayor Pat Fule is also one of the longest serving mayors, having first been elected in 2017.
