A jack-knifed semi-trailer that was blocking the northbound QEII just south of the Highway 581 junction, southeast of Carstairs, has been cleared.
The incident was reported shortly after 7:00 a.m., according to 511 Alberta. Southbound traffic had already been affected earlier in the morning when a semi spun out near Township Road 310, northeast of Carstairs. That crash was cleared by 6:54 a.m., but one lane was closed while emergency crews responded.

Highway conditions in and around Airdrie remained treacherous Wednesday morning, with snow, ice and low visibility affecting several major routes.
511 Alberta reported that the QEII was partly covered in snow both south toward Calgary and north past the Highway 2A junction, with shoulder ice, slush and limited visibility. Winter driving conditions also impacted Highway 72 east of Airdrie toward Beiseker.
Stoney Trail N.W. was closed southbound from Crowchild Trail and Scenic Acres View N.W. to Nose Hill Drive in Calgary. Police advised drivers to use alternate routes.

Environment Canada ended its snowfall warning for the Airdrie region, but light snow and flurries were expected to continue through the day. The forecast called for a 60 per cent chance of flurries this morning and early afternoon, followed by periods of light snow later in the day. Winds were expected to reach 15 km/h, with a high of zero and a morning wind chill of minus 8.
Another two to four centimetres of snow is forecast overnight, with clearing skies and a low of minus 7. Wind chill is expected to hit minus 12.
Thursday is expected to be clear with a high of plus 2 and a morning wind chill near minus 12. Thursday night’s low is forecast at minus 14.
