A boil water advisory has been issued for the Village of Beiseker.

"The advisory is required due to depressurization of the water system during repair work," said an Alberta Health Services (AHS) release.

AHS staff are advising residents and businesses to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking.

This includes water for brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods, preparing infant formula or juices, and making ice.

"Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled. For handwashing, wash with soap and water and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands," added AHS.

AHS says it is waiting for the village to make sure its water system is flushed and that all bacteriological samples are clear before lifting the boil water advisory.

Beiseker is a 64-kilometre drive from Strathmore.
