Six tables worth of Humboldt and area’s most cerebrally buff celebrants came together on Friday night, April 4 for the second annual Museum Trivia Night. Returning champs and runners up were back to sort things out, but there were newcomers who weren’t intimidated by the high levels of brain wattage among last year’s competitors.

The evening was a fantastically entertaining mix of visual questions, historical trivia, science minutia, and of course local culture. One of the categories was a particularly challenging rewind to Canadian film and television of the 1990s. The “Road Trip” category had contestants testing their knowledge of area communities with photos of key landmarks in 12 area towns.

The big equalizer came with the lightning round where the pendulum was the enemy as leading teams were knocked off their pins and set back when the questions came fast and furious. An incredibly thorough and well-designed headline timeline challenge paid homage to the Humboldt Journal as contestants tried to place key news stories in chronological order.

The winning team, last year's champions who went by the moniker “Carbon Units,” walked away with four gift certificates to an evening’s local dining. The remainder of the groups vowed to return next year following 12 months' worth of remedial study.

Congratulations to all the participants for a fun and friendly evening of competition and to the Museum staff and volunteers for the work that went into the research and presentation of the event.
