Steinbach RCMP responded to two separate alleged incidents of assault over the weekend.

Police say on Sunday at 7:37 pm, officers responded to an incident in Steinbach. A female from Steinbach faces charges of domestic assault and resisting/ obstructing a peace officer.

Then, a few hours later at 10:20 pm, officers were called to the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie. Police say a 36-year-old female from the RM of La Broquerie faces charges of domestic assault. 

Also, over the weekend, RCMP stopped an impaired driver southeast of Friedensfeld. On Saturday at 11:41 pm, a driver was pulled over along Road 36E. The 33-year-old male from that area now faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired, mischief under $5,000 and resisting/ obstructing a peace officer. 

According to Steinbach RCMP, the mischief under $5,000 is the result of a vandalized stop sign. Police say someone noticed a stop sign down and upon closer look noticed it had been cut down by an axe. Police attended and observed evidence that led them to a nearby field where a male operating a farm tractor was arrested. 

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a theft in Paradise Village from the weekend. The theft was reported on Sunday at 2:19 pm. A 2017 dump trailer was stolen. It has license plate number 710 AU.

Steinbach RCMP received 27 calls for service over the weekend.
