A building in Gleichen was completely destroyed in a fire early Monday morning.

Firefighters from across Wheatland County were dispatched to the blaze.

Mark Duguay, fire chief with the Standard Fire Association, said that when crews arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

"We started putting the fire out as best we could with what we had, and then we called in some more manpower just to make sure we had everything under control," he said.

The building was located next to the Canada Post office. StrathmoreNow spoke to residents, who said it was an old Masonic lodge.

The Rockyford Fire Department were also on scene to assist, along with Fortis and ATCO.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

"We have a gentleman come out who does our investigations for us. As fire chiefs we don't do the investigations," Duguay added.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
