“I want to bring it back to, okay, why did you start? What makes your heart sing? What can we bring back to the work you do each day that makes you want to show up again?”

Vibrant Systems, run and owned by Danielle Hauck, is a consulting-based company that connects communities, businesses, and people back to what matters most.

“We’re all so focused on these big picture things nowadays that we forget what really matters outside our front doors,” Hauck shares. “What really matters in our local communities- that’s where I like to work, because that’s where my values are.”

Hauck created this business just over a year ago, but has spent many years refining the skills applied in this endeavor, including completing a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology, as well as a Masters of Public Health. Meeting her clients on their home turf, Hauck is frequently on the road, traveling across the Canadian prairies.

“I’m located in the Strathmore area in Wheatland County, and because of that I’m really passionate about the work that we do here, and I’m so happy to work with clients that are local to me. But I love all rural communities, and see a lot of value in helping the build connections, so I’m good to travel.”

Hauck’s method includes the Value Integration and Exploration Workshop, or VIEW. This workshop is designed to help employers experiencing high turnover rates retain their employees.

“We know turnover is really expensive- you have to advertise a new position, you have to hire and train a new employee, you’re losing that investment you made in an old employee already, and, you know, even your loyal employees over time may leave if everybody else is jumping ship.”

VIEW seeks to mitigate such costs by finding values that both management and employees care about. Together, Hauck and the business can develop ways to improve leadership skills and encourage retention.

“I love it because I get to learn a lot about what makes people tick,” Hauck shares. “I get to learn about what brings them to life in whatever position or community they’re in, and I think that’s really important because so many folks are chasing the dollar, and I don’t think that’s a sustainable or really even that enjoyable of a way to be.”

Costs for working with Vibrant Systems are responsive to the needs of the client. Whether working with a 10-employee business or a 100-employee business, Hauck adjusts prices to reflect their needs and capabilities.

“It’s very much based on how I will bring value to that organization, but also on a firm understanding that not everybody has the same capabilities or money to invest in certain workshops. I want to help businesses grow, especially small businesses, so I want to make it as accessible as possible.”

Hauck notes that it’s very easy for rural communities or small towns to feel the need to take instruction from cities or companies within those cities about what needs to happen in order to succeed. She says that this is not an effective way to run a business in a rural community or small town.

“As somebody who grew up rurally, I understand that inherent value, that local pride and type of priorities, and I want to work with you to maintain that- I don’t want to make you work in a way that’s unnatural to you. Vibrant Systems is based on the idea that what we’re growing here is worth growing our way.”
