Lil Hoots Children's Boutique is offering free bikes to the community.
Earlier this month the Strathmore-based company announced the launch of its annual bike program.
According to owners Ashleigh and Debbie Enslen, staff with Joker Bicycle Co. fix old bikes and return them to the store for residents to take for free.
"People can come, pick up a bike for their children, and just be able to see their kids riding around on the bike," said Debbie.
Although the bikes are free, Lil Hoots is accepting cash donations, which will be donated to Joker Bicycle Co. to thank them for their help.
"The owner not only donates his time, but his expertise in fixing up all these bikes, and up until now he was purchasing the parts out of his own pocket," added Debbie. "We're hoping that we can collect some donations for him so that he's not buying the parts out of pocket."
This is Debbie and Ashleigh's first year running the store, with the bike program originally started by founder and former owner Denise Geremia.
"She was collecting cash donations, but with inflation the program has become bigger with more bikes every year," said Ashleigh.
As of publication there has already been one bicycle donated and refurbished, with the bikes available on a first come, first served basis.
