After being opened for only a year, a local business owner has been nominated for a prestigious entrepreneurial award.
Kimberley Cyrenne owner of the Frosty Bean has nominated for a RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award.
Cyrenne says she was very surprised to learn of the nomination.
"First of all, I didn't even know really a whole lot about what it was, I just knew it was these phenomenal women that I can't even believe my name came up in this category of women. So I was completely shocked, I couldn't believe it was real in the beginning, it took awhile to sink in."
The award recognizes Canada's most accomplished and impactful women entrepreneurs whose businesses contribute to the local economy and Cyrenne reflects on what it means to her to be nominated.
"As a business owner you are always worrying am I doing it right? And you know when you are down and wondering is this how things are going? And then something like this comes up and it really changes your day."
In terms of when Cyrenne will know if she has won the award, she says there are different series to register. First you have to be nominated and accepted and she is now listed under the "ones to watch" category. She believes she may hear more closer to the summer.
Either way, Cyrenne adds that she is competing against a group of exceptionally amazing women in all categories.
